The passenger services industry sector covers any service that moves people by road such as:
- commuter bus services
- school bus operations
- long distance passenger services
- charter and tour operators
- taxis
- shuttle vehicles
- rental vehicles
- limousine and VIP transport operators - including those provided by the Department of Internal Affairs and Parliamentary Services.
New Zealand bus and coach operators transport over 114 million passengers and travel more than 140 million kilometres per year.
