Changing careers – are you seeking a career change?
There are excellent career opportunities in the road transport and logistic sectors for mature workers who want a change in pace or life style. In fact, maturity is an advantage in many driving roles.
If you enjoy getting outside or would like a change from sitting at a desk, a career in the commercial road transport and logistics industry could be for you. There are many types of jobs available in road transport, passenger services, warehousing and logistics, ports and stevedoring, and freight forwarding.
If you hold a clean driver licence you could consider driving a truck, bus or taxi. Or perhaps working as part of a team in the warehousing or freight forwarding sector may suit you better.
Whatever type of job you choose there are great opportunities to get started towards well paying and challenging career paths.
Get started with a truck driving cadetship. Twelve week truck driving cadetships are available at some polytechnics. You do not need to already be employed to do this training. You will get work experience during the cadetship and job offers may result from this training.
Modern Apprenticeships are another way to get your road transport or logistic career started. Although they are aimed at those aged between 16-21 years, some people looking to change careers may also qualify.
