What is a Training Provider?
A Training Provider is any organisation supplying education, training, and/or assessment services. They include schools, polytechnics, universities, private and government training establishments and are accredited by NZQA.
Tranzqual works with both NZQA accredited training providers and Land Transport NZ approved course providers.

Not all of the training providers listed above are able to deliver training and assessment in all areas. When seeking a training provider, candidates should ensure that the training provider they wish to use is accredited to deliver the course that they wish to undertake. For a complete list of approved courses refer to the KiwiQuals webpage on the NZQA website.
Other Providers
There are also other providers accredited by NZQA to offer training in Tranzqual’s industry sectors. For a complete list of NZQA accredited training providers, go to the Find Education Organisations page on the NZQA website.
Land Transport NZ Approved Course Providers
A Land Transport NZ approved course provider is not the same as a NZQA accredited provider. There are some providers with both Land Transport NZ and NZQA provider status but they have achieved this by following the separate and distinct procedures required by each organisation.
Land Transport NZ can approve either individuals or organisations as approved course providers.
When an individual is approved they must be a Registered Assessor with Tranzqual (or Infratrain in the case of approval for wheels, tracks or rollers endorsement courses). The Assessor must also be registered to assess the unit standards that comprise the approved course. If they wish to assess for class 2, 3, 4 or 5 driver licences they must also hold a driving instructor endorsement for the relevant class of vehicle. Individuals approved as course providers will be issued with a provider number by Land Transport NZ.
Organisations that are approved as providers must employ, or contract people, who meet the same basic criteria as individual providers. The individual assessor employed or contracted by an organisation approved as a course provider does not have to apply to Land Transport NZ for a provider number but the organisation is required to keep a record of the Assessors they use and keep Land Transport NZ informed.
For more information go to the LandTransport NZ website.
